Ribbed footed uranium yellow vase ID?
« on: July 06, 2017, 10:40:08 AM »
A friend of mine has broken with her husband and is now wanting to dispose of a large amount of glass that she's collected over the years and has asked for my help with identification (and then sale). Her favourite piece is this gorgeous bit of uranium glass. Does anyone have any clues?

Features are that it's huge (I'm guess that it would be about 30cm or 12"). No evidence of anything like a pontil, didn't look closely enough at the underside to notice tool marks.

Sorry about the quality and lack of photos (she showed me every single piece she had and it took a while! Luckily most are Bagley and Sowerby so pretty easy to ID.)

[Ed: I don't want to prejudge anything, but it's giving off an Empoli vibe here. Did they do uranium?]

Thanks!

Just adding: this seller has the same vase in amber and puts it as Empoli. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282525852632?clk_rvr_id=1250722570993&rmvSB=true

I didn't measure my friend's vase but suspect 15.5" is the right height. Can anyone confirm?

Sounds reasonable, I would have assumed the amber was Empoli, interesting that your friend's is uranium as it is not something I am used to seeing here.

Sue gave me this, which we concluded might be Empoli or at least Italian

Fascinating! The size and glow of this piece makes it quite impressive.
