Iridescent Vase - help with identifying
« on: July 10, 2017, 08:41:58 PM »
Hi all.
I recently found this lovely vase. It has an iridescence to its deep blue colour (the yellowish aspect in my pictures is simply the reflection of my light). The pattern is Art Nouveau is style and no indication of maker/signature.
The vase is quite heavy for its size - height 12cm. It has no visible damage.
Can somebody please let me know if they recognise the style, artist, make, etc?
Thank you.

I wonder if Mtarfa may be a possibility?

Well spotted Greg, that was quick!
Based upon your suggestion, I just had a look on the internet and the Mtarta images are pretty convincing.
Many thanks for your help.

You're welcome. There are a few Maltese collectors on the site, hopefully someone will confirm for sure. There's quite a wide variety of Mtarfa decors once you start digging!

It looks to be a Perfume minus its dibber to me.  The colour reminds me of Isle of Wight Glass turquoise.  Here are a couple of pictures of an Azurene  paperweight from there.  I have a few more items but need to catch up on my photography.

I'm with Mtarfa. I've not seen this colourway before, but the decor style and more importantly, the shape is a Mtarfa shape.
Mtarfa is underrated. ;)
