Pressed Glass Pink Deco Decanter ID?
« on: July 24, 2017, 03:32:59 PM »
Hi everyone
I would be pleased to hear any thoughts on this. It's a peachy- pink (a bit pinker than it looks in the photos) decanter which stands 16.5cm/6.5" without the stopper, 23.5/9.5" with the stopper.
It has a Czech/German look, but I haven't been able to pin down the maker/model despite looking through some of the usual sites. I did find one very similar (in Green) which also came with shot glasses being sold on ebay recently, but with no attribution. I'm hoping someone will recognise the distinctive art deco stopper. Many thanks!

Pamela has this design as unknown, part of a trinket set possibly: http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/toilettenservice/00606.html

Thanks John for the quick response.
I did look there but didn't spot it. I guess if it's unidentified on Pamela's site, then it's destined to remain unidentified for the foreseeable!
Cheers G.

there's nothing in Ruth A. Forsythe's book that matches exactly, but Czechoslovakian is a fairly safe bet.                There are identical stoppers and colours in that volume, and sizes too, for items for cologne or scent, so an item from a trinket set is very possible.

Just to let you know that I've come across several links attributing this to Niemen model no.1531, although I haven't found a catalogue to confirm this.
Here is the link for the issue of pressglas-korrespondenz which features the carafe/decanter:
