Topic: Possible Whitefriars Harry Powell

Hi all, I'm hoping this is possibly Whitefriars/Powell. It looks to be sea green, it has folded foot and snapped off pontil . 14 cm high . Very similar to Harry Powell lotus vase , I have included a screenshot of the Powell vase for comparison.

hi  -  could be a real find if it does turn out to be Harry Powell from all that time ago.               On the other hand if it doesn't, you might consider the Murano output from AVeM  -  they did a lot of this Cappellin type of impossibly thin stuff with folded foot rims.
Love the colour by the way, and of course would be better if it was Powell  -  fingers crossed as you say.

For what it is worth I would tend towards Powell rather than Murano here, something about the simplicity of the shape, very elegant.

I know nothing about Powell glass but in comparison, the squatness or shortness of your foot and the way the bowl of your piece is slightly bulbous means they don't look the same shape to me

Hi marc there's a video on YouTube called Whitefriars exhibition Manchester 1996 it was filmed by Patrick Hogan. About 140 seconds in it shows two pieces, one is tall looks to be sky blue and other looks to be the same as my piece ,there is another shot of it a few seconds later. Would appreciate it if you could take look.

Hi Karen.

I know the video well. Your piece could be right, but I'm sitting on the fence at the moment. I think the engraved piece you've shown is from an exhibition and could be experimental so if ithe design went into production it could have altered.

hello Karen  -  compliments on your ferreting around and in depth interest in some of these items  .............    just out of curiosity was this piece sold as W/Fs (or possibly)  -  or did you have one of those lightbulb occasions when you saw the shape/colour?
