Has anyone seen items like these before. Both are circa 1900, the vase showing considerable age.
The metal frame on the conical piece has bee very unsympathetically restored. There are signs that it would have had finials on the top of the vertical elements, and it has been buffed and lacquered. It is probably arts and crafts, and both pieces of glass have highly polished pontils. I purchased these items 35 odd years apart, and the colour of the metal matches to my eye, once the diamond molding on the conical piece is taken into account. Both pieces show Powell like features, but I have never seen this amber in a documented Powell shape.
All guesses welcome.
Mike Francis.
