Candy Stripe Jug - S&W?
« on: August 21, 2017, 05:17:10 PM »
Dear All,

good evening. Something about candy twist/stripe that just captures the eye.

My take is English. S&W or ??   :)

What say you?

Kind regards

Andrew

What does the base look like, maybe a bit thick and chunky to be Victorian? could it be Venetian?.

Dear Chris,

thank you. Herewith photos of base. I never considered Venetian as the base seems typically Victorian...I'll go and search for some now to compare.

Meanwhile here they are:

Kind regards

Andrew

I'd go with Victorian... and not Venetian

What makes you think it's Victorian Christine?, Fenton and a lot of 60's Murano looks Victorian, it's very nice by the way, what part of the world is it your from Andrew?.

Dear Chris,

I'm based in Manchester, UK. This I picked up in Barnsley. I was teasing with the S&W, however you never know. I do know their Osiris is much more detailed. I think the rigeree circle around the upper body is similar to other cranberry pieces from the Victorian period and the feet, though clumsy compared to others, are in keeping with the thick body required to give the white inner casing and candy exterior.

A super evening to you and all.

Andrew
