I have a heavy glass tri-shaped bowl that has an engraved signature to underbase which reads "r n 1782" any ideas to its origins?

Hi and welcome.  :)
From what little you tell us, I doubt we'll have much of a clue.
We need to see it. There is plenty of techie help and info here about resizing images and posting them to the board.

We like to see a clear image of the whole thing, (with a plain background), any special features and an image of the base. We like to know if the rim is polished or heat finished.
To bring a mark up for photography, try rubbing a little talcum powder over it with your thumb.

Sometimes, we can tell what something is better from seeing it than any marks on it, sometimes we need both, for an id to come together.

Looking forward to seeing your thing. :)
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)
