Murano fish ID please
« on: December 02, 2017, 12:32:50 PM »
Hi Guys, I presume this 10" fish is Murano? and I think very well made.
It is unusual as the colour in the body is completely made up of paperweight canes.
It has gold adventurine in the fins and sits on a swirled domed base.
I'm hoping someone will be able to give me the name of the maker, designer etc. It could possibly be identified by the cane types or the swirled base?

I would say Murano and good quality, these fish, ducks or birds really vary in quality and i normally sell them on but i have kept one. I picked it up from a car boot a couple of years ago and paid £30 for it which is a lot at a boot sale.

The elderly lady i picked it up from said it was Barbini and the exact date was 1966 as the world cup was was on at the time.

It's lovely quality and i have not been able to part with it, the base has a rough pontil.

It measures 10 inches in height and has a standard i think Murano label.

Although on first look this fish looks different it actually has a lot of similarities. Same base, gold in the fins, apllied mouth fins etc.
