Topic: Mystery vase with signature

Hi All
I have recently acquired this vase from ebay. Alas it is somewhat damaged, but I am desperate to learn more about the maker. There is a signature (see photo), but I cant recognise it or even decipher it. Anyone any ideas??

A photo of the whole vase might be useful. Looks like cameo, perhaps from France.

I'd agree it looks like etched cameo glass, but from where I'm not sure, thought France is a likely candidate.           Hate to think how many internet pages, auction catalogue and books with factory/designers sigs. I've looked at  -  but as has been said, it's not an easy one to decipher.
Is it a D followed by an e followed by a g or f  ...... ? 

The use of metal staples to repair glass was fashionable in the late C19 early C20, so that does seem to be indicating a possible manufacturing date - but not guaranteed.                   Shame about the crack  ..........  what is the size please?

Hi All.
I have now received the vase, which is satin etched. I attach some better photos. I wonder if it could be Belgian 1930s???
I have no clue about the signature though. Totally stumped!! Any help really welcome!

Also - in reply - the vase is 20cm in diameter.
There is a clean break fracturing the glass into 2 pieces that has been stapled

It's really quite nice, having a well-stapled piece. It was not an easy or cheap job to undertake and it tells us that whoever had it thought it worth the trouble and expense of trying to save it.

But I have just realised that you perhaps do not own the photographs you posted? Are they from the auction listing?
If they are not your own photographs, they will have to be removed for copyright reasons to prevent the board getting into legal difficulties.

I think your own pictures would be far better anyway - it looks a completely different beast, it looks round, ball shaped, in the ebay pics.

Hella All

Here are some new pics (including the base) of a beautiful (albeit damaged/repaired) vase I acquired online. It is 3 layered etched cameo glass, outer layer reflective. Measures 20 cm in diameter. Rim is ground, 7mm thick.
I would love to know the provenance - especially as there is a signature...

On internet trawling I see some similarities with art deco designs from Belgian glass houses, such as Verreries de Scailmont, if only for the 3 layers/reflective glass and nature motif, but cannot find anything similar...

All help appreciated! Its a real mystery!

would it be possible for you to post very clear,not blurry pphotographs in a larger size please.  It's not possible to see any detail and a close up of the trees and the way they are done would be helpful.  As well as a close up clear photograph of the signature.
