It's been made in a simlar way to a "knot", with the hot glass being poured and trailed over the marver with bits added and built up.
Possibly safest to put it standing next to a wall.  ;D

It's against the back of the book case, erm my glass display shelves, Sue  ;D It's really quite steady, but with a Weimaraner running around, with a tail like a whip, it's safer  :P
If I know, I'll comment. If I think I know, I'll have a go. If I have no idea, I'll just keep quiet and learn from others, so the next time I'll know.

She's beautiful.

We will find her creator one day!

;D Not to be confused with Hilda Ogden's much-loved "Muriel".

It looks like the last 3 letters are lyn or last 4 letters lej? and the letter before the l looks like an a or an o, blowed if I know.
I have a huge photo on my screen and I still can't make head nor tails of it.  :-\
If I din't keep seeing Muriel for the first word .............. (and not Hildas, Sue,  ;D ;D )
Thanks for keeping looking though, M, much appreciated.

Well done, Della. I should have known that one too. There's a bit about her in my little Graham McLaren book on Studio Glass and I have seen a few large casts she has done. She does sand casting and kiln work. Big, statement pieces.  ;D
The booklet doesn't say much about her at all, there is just an illustration of a large sand cast by her, in the section about "Casting and kiln working".
You might be interested to knopw that the other artists' work used to illustrate this section are David Reekie, John Cook, Liz Lowe, Colin Reid, Tiws Johnson, Maggie Hilton, Ros Conway and Diana Hobson.
Amanda Brisbane is in some very good company there. ;)
