Antique Glass Casket with Neoclassical Design
« on: April 07, 2018, 10:00:39 AM »
I've just acquired a beautiful glass casket with an Empire style neoclassical olive garland pattern painted in gold enamel. Although I have seen similar items with gilded bronze feet, hinges and trimming I haven't been able to find one like this.

Firstly I'm wondering if it is French and if it is Napolean III period.

It is in good condition with a few nibbles to the underside of the lid and on the rim and some age related wear to the enamel on the lid where it has been lifted over the years.

Dimensions:

14cm (L) x 6.5cm (W) x 7cm (H) with lid
675g

Otherwise I'm floundering so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!  :)
