Topic: Is this Czech, and if so who?

This 'object' has some similarities with 1950s Skrdlovice glass as produced by the Beraneks, or maybe Kotik?  But so far I can't find it in any of the available online documentation. It's about 12cm tall and about the same wide at its broadest point.  Flat polished base.

I love it anyway, but it'd be good to know its provenance.  Any ideas?

Is it a perfume bottle missing a stopper?

I don't think it's a perfume bottle - the neck is well rounded and not deep enough to hold a stopper, and it's not ground, but polished.  I'm wondering if the aperture was created using the 'wet stick' method?

Well sleuthed John!  It's certainly the same vase, but a shame that the sale site doesn't give it a name or number   My knowledge of Italian glass is zilch, so I think I need to do some more research!  Funny, the item sold to me as Italian seems more likely to be Czech, and this one (identified as Bohemian) may be Italian!  No surprise really, and all part of the learning curve I guess

unfortunately, the Flavio Poli attribution it that link is ridiculous.
I would think Czech production is quite likely, though I don't recognize the design.
Colour reminds me a little of these Novy Bor / Chribska vases, produced from the 1970s onwards (see first attached pic).

How is the base finished? Does it have the typical bevelled edge? (see second pic)
A clear shot of the base, best taken in a 45 degree angle, often helps
Also, your pic is really small, if you make the longest size appr. 700px, the file size usually is within board limits...

I, like Michael, feel it has a Novy Bor / Chribska look to it though unfortunately, I can't point you to a catalogue or magazine which has the same piece.

Thanks very much both.  Maybe my first instinct as Czech wasn't completely out of the ball park then.  I'll try to post better pics soon.  I'm still finding my way with the board 'rules' and was paranoid about the pictures being too big

The "rules" might seem a bit daunting at first, but they're what keeps this forum searchable for information, properly illustrated.

There are several ways of resizing things, you just need to find the instructions that go with the systems you have.

(I use paint shop pro, so I don't understand what folk are talking about with their "125 pixies on a pinhead".)

Thanks Sue    I'm not really paranoid, but when you belong to several different message boards on quite different subjects it can be tricky remembering the one's 'rules' from the other and it's easy to trip up!  Maybe I should rather describe myself as easily confused 

The techie help is really good, thanks, and I completely understand the need for 'rules' for the sensible reasons you have described!  It's a great forum, and I've already learned a lot from its very friendly members
