Strapped Iridescent Studio Vase ID Help Please
« on: April 28, 2018, 03:23:12 PM »
Before I picked this up, I thought Mtarfa, but it isn't signed & the base is wrong..
Incredibly well made, but unsigned.
My photos don't show the lovely iridescence  :(
All suggestions welcome.
TIA

:) The base might be "wrong", according to our current percieved knowledge, but everything else is so right, I suspect the base might just be an anomaly and we should not rule Mtarfa out in cases like this.
They were very experimental, starting off with Mdina-like designs (with a twist), but soon took off in different directions.
I don't think I could list and sell it as "definitely" Mtarfa, I have no proof, but if it was sitting here in my home, it would be with the Mtarfa and I'd call it Mtarfa.

Shape is spot on for Mtarfa. They do the shape and pattern in quite a few colours.

I reckon this one is the same colour (lighting is poor) and it has a label: https://www.picclickimg.com/d/l400/pict/253384791698_/Mtarfa-glass-vase.jpg

And thank-you. :-*  This base finish is a new one, we've all learned something.
