Hello. I have this unmarked heavy cobalt blue glass bowl with abstract "eyes". It measures approx. 21cm diameter. I was hoping someone might know maker. Thanks

Are the "eyes" applied clear glass trails or are they cut into it, or both?
Is it cased in clear or is that just the added trails?

How does it end up with the "eye bits" clearer than the body when you look into it if they're not cut? Are the trails pressed into the surface a bit?

It is a bit difficult to tell what it is really like from the pics there.
This is always the way with glass. It's three-D and photos are two-D. ::)

Hello. It appears to be one piece of glass; nothing applied. The "eyes" seem to be impressed or molded into the outside. The are rounded with no sharp edges. The clear areas are thinner so maybe they read as less blue because of that or maybe it is cased clear on inside. I cannot see for sure. The inside of the bowl is smooth, for the most part. Thanks for looking.

I think the eyes are trails of clear glass on the surface. In one of the pics, I can see through one of them, although there appears to be some amber that "appears" in it, not unlike the fire of opalescent glass.
Are there any colours or opaque areas in it?

It looks, sometimes, and perhaps under different lighting conditions, to be a little bit similar to some pieces by Pavel Hlava for Skrodlovice (although one of mine is marked Ceska)
But those have applied blobs of glass, with Silver Nitrate effects on them.

I have two of those and the applied blobs do that "firey" thing, but I think that is related to the silver that gets into them.
The pieces are a similar colour, which is created with a very thin layer of deep cobalt blue glass inside very thick casings of clear.
I'll find a link to some images of these bits for you.

Found a thread with a few of the Skrodlovice pieces I'm talking about.

I just wondered if these might be related, in some way, to your bowl. :)
I am otherwise totally clueless. ;D

Lovely bowl,  but not Skrdlovice.  The base would be highly polished and flat, and the edge of the base would be slightly shaven.

Anik :)

Thanks, that's very good to know!  :)
It was only a very vague and uneducated thought, based on outward appearances only, and even those are not that similar.
It comes down to cobalt blue with unusual features; but the features are very different. :-[
