Topic: Paris 1889 engraved and gilded beaker. World fair?

Hi, here is a nice engraved and gilded beaker (shame about the two chips and missing gilding!). From the inscription ‘Paris 1889’ I thought it might be a souvenir from the World Fair although other souvenirs seem to feature the Eiffel Tower. Perhaps the inscription is misleading. Any information on origin/maker would be appreciated.

The rim is ground. There is no pontil mark that I recognise - it’s not snapped, ground or a usual gadget type mark but there is some unevenness that has the approximate shape of an eight petalled flower. The engraving looks quite well done being relatively fine although the ‘1889’ seems to run downhill slightly towards the end. It is 100mm tall.

I assume it’s French, or at least continental due to the ground rim. Thanks.

It wouldn't have a pontil mark because it's been cut off the blowing iron from the top and not reworked. The wrinkly bottom is a combination of the ribbing and cooling marks
