Anyone have an idea as to how common or not this swimming blue duck may be?

Who do you suppose the designer may be?

What is the workmanship called in the body with the placement of the feather-like latticino white glass?

6" long, head is 4" high and tail is 3" high. 649g.

Love to find a mate for him/her.

OK first the bubbly/feathered effect is by a Murano technique called Sfumato.

However, i believe this is one produced by FM Konstglas Sweden.

For some reason, even though sfumato does NOT describe those rods, Barbini used the same term sfumato describing them incorrectly at VAMSA and the term sfumato stuck causing confusion. If you search sfumato on Etsy for instance, you’ll see a Konstglas piece similar to this duck. Formia has also used that technique on my bird, and V.Nason. Sfumato I learned means a gradual change in color or shading. I think the rods of glass embedded in my duck are called lampwork.

Any other suggestions?

If not signed then less likely to be Konstglas and more likely contemporary Chinese - they have been using this technique for a few years now.

Also your photos are way too small for old eyes like mine.  Somewhere nearer 500 x 500 should fit easily in the 125KB limit for each photo.

Carlovision,  your lovely glass duck is FM Konstglas, and the feathering is sfumato technique.  I have many of these, some are signed,  some just have the FM Konstglas labels and some have none at all, quite possibly because the labels have been washed off.
The Chinese copies are vastly inferior to your lovely piece.  I have them in different colours.  The feathering effect is not achieved with canes,  it is not lampwork. (I have an extensive collection of that as well.)
I would really like to see larger pictures if you can show them please.

A friend Ingela who is my FM Ronneby/Marcolin guru is not a member but saw this.  She has sent a couple of links which should make it clear she feels you have an FM blue duck, that is somewhat rare.

Hi Ross,

I am a member although I have not been active on the GMB for quite some time now.

I sent you two eBay links, and one link to my two FM birds with label.

This is FM Konstglas, Ronneby, Sweden.

By the way, I never said that I consider these ”somewhat rare”.
However, many objects in eBay listings are usually ”rare” or ”unique” but that is the words from many eBay sellers. Things are seldom rare. 

The bird is a 1960’s model.
I have so far not come across any FM from the 1960’s that are signed so the absence of a signature tells us nothing.
We always have to look at the details. Large pictures, in focus, are always helpful, and a picture of the base/bottom is a must.

My two birds are made approx. 1961-1963.
Carlovision’s bird probably made mid/late 1960’s.
