:) Hello and welcome to the board.
We have loads of info and help here about how to use it.
https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/board,22.0.html
In there, you'll find a sticky topic which will give you information about posting images directly to the board, so we know what we're talking about, and so that the images do not vanish at a later date, leaving a thread unillustrated and the information useless.

There is also a small problem with you using your email address as your username - I'm going to ask a moderator to change it to prevent you getting harvested by spambots.

Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

The moderator will probably shift your topic too, into "general glass queries".
Items don't get put into topics that cover their geographical origins until they have been postitively identified.
I know it might seem all a bit much at the start, but it all helps to keep the board organised as a proper, illustrated, research tool.  8)
I haven't clicked on your links to see the glass, I'm afraid. My pc is ancient and I don't click on links that might upset it.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Hi and welcome to the board.

First off, I've changed your setting so that your email doesn't show as your user name to protect it from spam harvesters. You still need to use your email address to log in with but on the posts on the board it will show your username as sam.bater.

Secondly, for some odd reason your images are not showing - I can see that you have tried to attach them but they are all showing as 0kb size so cannot be displayed. Could you please try adding them again to a reply below? If they don't display again then feel free to send copies to me and I'll add them directly for you. support AT glassmessages.com will find me - change AT to @ and close up the spaces.

Thirdly, when you post a request for info could you please do two things:

1. Make sure the post has a descriptive title rather than just a Help please type title. See here for why it matters: https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,17458.0.html

and

2. Post ID requests into Glass for general glass queries, Paperweights for queries about those. Queries about Animals or Figurines can be posted into there, and the Glass Trinket Set one can have queries about any trinket set or part of that needs an ID or more info.   The country forums are for further discussion after items have been ID'd or about items that are labelled or otherwise marked with a country of origin.  Moderators will move posts between forums as needed after ID for you - to help us find them more quickly you can add a reply or use the report to Moderator function on another post in the topic (NB you can't report a post you have made yourself as the board's software doesn't let that happen.)

Each of the forums has a description under its name on the index page https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php so you can see what is covered where, but if you are unsure just post into Glass as it's usually the safest bet.

Finally, I hope the above helps but if you get stuck please just shout and one of us will come and rescue you!
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Hi Sam :)

It's a good idea to click 'rotate' for portrait format photos of vases, just to save those of us on laptops and PCs from cricking our necks.  ;) This function should be available in whichever application you're using to store photos.

The vase looks pre-war Swedish, very much in the style of Vicke Lindstrand or Sven Palmqvist for Orrefors, but there are other possibilities. I'll go through my books and see if I can find out more.

Other possibilities are Steuben; also Jaroslav Horejc, a sculptor who designed engravings for Lobmeyr in the 1920s.

If you can get hold of a copy of Jennifer Opie's 'Scandinavia: Ceramics and Glass in the Twentieth Century', turn to p.126 and look at the image at top right. This shows a Lindstrand vase of female nudes, etched in the very muscular style of your own piece, dated 1930 for Orrefors.

Your vase seems unusual in combining cuts at the edges with the etching, but perhaps someone else on the forum has more information on this.
