Controlled bubble amber vase - Scandinavian?
« on: November 11, 2018, 06:19:51 PM »
I picked up this lovely little item at a local thrift, thinking it quite reminiscent of Gunnel Nyman. The difference is that the bubbles stretch out as they move towards the top, rather than remaining pin pricks.

I don't know what the other alternatives may be. Other Scandinavian or maybe German?

It measures 6 1/2" (16cm) high x 2 1/2" at the widest point. The base is ground flat and polished.

I will endeavour to upload the photos as attachments, but I'm having difficulty getting both the pixel size and file size to within parameters.

It is similar to some of the vases designed by Milan Metelák for the Harrach (Harrachov) factory. The type of base is seen in items from a number of Czechoslovakian factories including Harrach. The pattern of bubbles - elongated near the top - is seen in some Metelák vases.

Terrific, thank you very much for the direction, John. I'm off to research on Metelak, and will see what I can find!
