Glass Id?
« on: March 17, 2019, 09:27:35 AM »
Hi all,

I purchased this glass a few years ago in a lot with antique glasses and this seemed to be the only modern looking glass in the lot, it also had a Christie's sticker on it which I assume means it was sold at Christie's at some point? Anyone any ideas as to who could have made this? I'm assuming it was made sometime in 20th century, the engraving is fairly decent, the metal is good quality crystal and it has an octagonal tapering faceted stem with round funnel bowl. It stands 4 inches / 10 cm high

Kind Regards,

Adam

Rowland Ward possibly?

I think it might be from Exbor / Bohemia Crystal following the older "Egermann style / range" of motifs.

The engraving of the stag's antlers and also the trees look quite typical. The antlers in particular are quite naive with the thickness and looped form of each element and I feel I have seen those forms in Exbor vases etc.

The Rowland Ward work seems to me to be finer and of better proportions in the animals.
