Topic: Chinese Snowflake ??

Could this be  an example of a Chinese “Snowflake” vase that  Mark Hill has been drawing our attention to recently. This one stands 36.5cms in height , has a smooth polished base and weighs a hefty 4.4 kgms. Normally I would have dismissed this as Murano. Would love to hear if anyone has a view.

I don't know where Mark's been saying things, but while this definitely looks Chinese, it's not like any of the Snowflake pieces I have seen.
A quick search brings up Mark's page, which does illustrate genuine Snowflake items.

Thanks for the interest.  If it looks Chinese I thought all Modern Chinese Glass came from The Dalian Glass Co. Ltd.  Is that not correct?  Is it definitely not a Snowflake because of the smooth base and not a snapped of pontil??

No. It's not Snowflake because the colours are not wispy over a solid background and it's much, much thicker, lumpier and heavier.
I would strongly suspect Dalian is not the only glass making operation in China.

This looks modern colours. The Snowflake stuff is probably mid ish 20th C

Just apologies if we were not too clear - sometimes folk can get annoyed if we start slowly spelling out stuff they already know, and we don't know how much you do know. 
Snowflake is quite finely blown.
The more recent stuff, which is getting better and better all the time, tends to be big, bright and very heavy. It used to be possible to tell it from other things by a roughly ground and irregular pontil mark, but that's not happening any more - the finish and the work itself, is getting better and better too.
