Hi , I recently found a pair of Meissen Signed Blue Glass Vases . Does anyone know anything about Meissen Glass, such as when they made it and the prices it sold for when new . It is Signed Meissen in full as well as the letter M and another letter I can’t make out . It is superb quality

No need to post its bottom.......I see they are not always signed on the bottom.

As I expect you have already found, it's not easy to research this one.  The Meissener Bleikristall website is in German, and I haven't been able to find a way to stop the pictures scrolling long enough that I can look at the picture and try and translate the text underneath.  Most of the images on Google link to Asian sites without English text, so not a very good source.  A trumpet shaped vase in your pattern and colourway sold for 4200 yen (£30), but I couldn't read the text to see if they named the pattern.

For information, for anyone without the benefit of Ivo Haanstra's  invaluable glass facts book, Meissener Bleikristall started in 1947.

I haven't been able to work out what their current production pieces look like......are you able to get a feel for the age from any wear marks on the bases?   The style of the cutting below the floral panel feels fairly modern to me.

Thanks for posting them.....really enjoyed finding out about another glass maker, and the website is well worth a visit as there are some stunning pieces.....especially loved the animals designs and the lamps.  Meissener-Bleikristall.de

Due to a combination of wine, artificial light, and poor eyesight......all of which were not aided by the size of the text in Ivo's book!......I thought I should clarify the information I posted last night by reproducing the whole entry.

"Meissener Bleikristall GmbH glassworks in Meissen, Germany [1947-present], founded as Kristallschleiferei Horst Sandig, was nationalized 1972-1990 as VEB Meissener Bleikristall and has been named Meissener Bleikristall GmbH Marlies Sandig from 1994-present.  Sig: needle-engraved M monogram on all pieces (art glass, cut-to-clear, flashed, engraved crystal)"

Perhaps you could contact them and ask what they can tell you about the pattern name, date of manufacture, etc. email@meissener-Bleikristall.de

look forward to hearing what you find out.
