Gilded and enameled wine glass
« on: July 15, 2019, 03:26:51 PM »
This wine glass has a flower enameled in the base enhanced with gilding - 10.5 cm high.  Possibly mid-European?

Thank you so much.  I've visited their site and there are certainly very similar glasses there.  I'll do some more research and come back if I can get a definitive attribution.  There is no mark to the base of the glass.  Is that common for Theresienthal?  I thought they marked their glass with a crown.  Best wishes, Neil

Not always marked......I've had a few pieces unmarked.

Thank you Cat, I've tried to find the same glass on their sites without success as yet.  I'll keep trying there and elsewhere.  Best wishes, Neil

Not really my area but Meyr's Neffe made similar enamelled glasses. I've also seen floral enamelled wine glasses attributed to Poschinger. Might be worth checking out these makers.

Thank you Stephen, I always wanted a Meyr's Neffe glass!  The nearest I can find is this one - https://www.quittenbaum.de/en/auctions/art-nouveau---art-deco/102/alle-lose/meyrs-neffe-adolf-bei-winterberg-weinglas-nach-1900-61885/ - which appears to have the same enameling.  I'll try to see if I can get a more definitive attribution.  Best wishes, Neil
