Hi All. Hope someone can help. I've been researching this knobbly ashtray for some months now with little success until I had a look at Emmi Smith's great Whitefriars blog (
http://whitefriarsknobblies.blogspot.com/). On the knobbly range section towards the bottom she has an image of a blue dish / ashtray which she says has been put on ebay several times as a Whitefriars dish but has been identified as a Czech dish and more importantly says it also comes in an shade of purple that is similar to Whitefriars Aubergine which this one is.
I've since found a thread on this board from back in 2011 (
https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,38645.msg213673.html#msg213673) that has a similar bowl/ashtray to this one which points towards Chribska. Since then I've found a similar one claimed to be Murano (on etsy in green). Unfortunately no labels on any one of them to help. So I'm hoping that someone might be able to clear up the mystery on this little piece. Measures about 11 cm in diameter and is about 6 cm tall and weighs 560 gms. It also has a ground out polished pontil (maybe this is where the Whitefriars claims are coming from but regarding it as a Czech piece I've not seen any with a similar pontil).
I've also started to search along Japanese lines but information on Japanese glass is scant to say the least.
So if anyone can help it would be really helpful.
Thanks
