Topic: pressed glass plate with leaves and grapes and wave rim

Hello together

I bought this plate 22 cm in diameter with Wllenrand ( Wave rim ?) grapes and leaves.
I was pretty sure that it is a walther design germany. They have a quite similar Weinlaub design but nothing with waves. Du you have an idea?
the waves are not well centered, one edge is broader than the other side

Hi Monika  -  not that it makes any difference, but this one looks more like a bowl than a plate - might this be true?

There are a few makers that have used this stippled (dots) effect  -  I was sure there were some Scandi makers who have used similar decoration, also some from Czechoslovakia - and I thought for a moment about the States 'Depression' ware, but theirs were finer (less pronounced) patterns.
Have you looked through all of the Walter Musterbuchs from Dieter Neumann on Pamela Wessendorf's  glas.musterbuch.de site?  -  you will need a 'week for the rest' - or should that be 'a rest for the weak'     ….   they give us headaches!

Yes I spend hours and hours with Pamelas Glas Musterbuch, I΄m hoping she comes along, I`m sure she will know it in seconds. May be I send her a whats Ap, she said that she will help if I ask, I did΄nt want to bother her. I was at her museum a while ago, absolutely mind blowing. When you visit Hamburg you should make a appointment and bring lots of time.

If a plate means only absolutely flat, then you are right, then we deel with a bowl. For a bowl I thought it is not high enough 4cm.

Hello Cat unfortunately I don‘t understand your last sentence. Do you mean by French coolie that is new? Could be, nearly no scratches ore any fleabite, only that on my arm from my naughty dog😬

If you google "French coolie light shade", you'll see they have a similar shape and rim to your bowl.  Sorry I did not make it clearer Monika.

just in case Monika has perhaps not understood the full meaning of the expression …………..   but if you have Monika then I apologise …….

The word coolie refers to the shape - either of a light shade or bowl having some likeness or similarity to the south Asian rice hats.
In the U.K. John Luxton used the same shape when designing what he described as coolie fruit bowls - more than one design I think - in the 1960s.

Not sure that Luxton bowls were made with wavy rims, which was the feature on the lamp shades, along with the shape, that reminded me of Monika's piece.  Added a link to clarify, although it's unlikely to help get any closer to an attribution for Monika.
