A 7 inch 'Samba' vase, designed by Gwyneth Ashcroft, early 1980s, this one has been etched and has the signature of Patrick McMahon, is this his work ? sorry for the poor photo's.

Absolutely yes it's Patrick's work, Keith. this is what I call his "bread and butter patter" as he used it on many pieces. We see them a lot around here as he was based in Grange over Sands at his shop called Artcrystal, about 1/2 an hour from us, until he died of a brain tumour. Patrick was Waterford trained and his "posh" stuff is amazing, I loved watching him work!

What a lovely treat. :)

Patrick used all different types of glass Keith, from cheap mass produced stuff to posher stuff. Maybe he picked them up cheaply (perhaps he was a charity shop trawler too!)
