hello Dave - welcome to the GMB.        Regrettably, I've never owned a piece of Orrefors Ariel - so can't speak from personal experience, but …..

I think one of the prerequisites of this technique is the bubbles within the glass to give the sparkle and design element, which is then overlaid with clear glass.
To quote Leslie Jackson  - '20th Century Factory Glass' -  "Ariel involved sandblasting a pattern in deep relief on to a clear or multi-coloured blank, so that when the vessel was re-heated and cased, the design was captured in trails of air'.
If there is an absence of bubbles within your glass, and a lack of clear overlay, then IMHO this is not a piece of Ariel.

Genuine pieces of Swedish Ariel would command substantial prices  -  what was the origin of this one. :)

Always better if your pix are posted from your own library direct, rather than an external host  -  are you able to upload from your pc direct?

Regret I've no idea as to an id for this piece - hopefully someone else might have more information.

Hello Dave
Your images are unfortunately not in that quality that you can see the pattern of the bubbles. I love Ariel glass and would give a lot to own one. The gas bubbles in Ariel glass have a pattern, animal flower ore just a geometric design, so far I can see your Vase the bubbles are „ only“ spreading around. Did you understand what I want to say, my English is German, and sounds crazy to English ears😬 Ariel is usually overplayed outside with clear glass .  So I think you just have a very nice vase, but I doubt Ariel. When I was in Sveden , visiting all glass company’s in the glasriket, I saw Ariel glass in a quality I never will own.... 15000€ a vase, but in a quality you want to sink on your knees and pray😏
Monika ;D :-*

Micke Johans in my eyes is one of the greatest living glass artists. Here you have a little galery of his Ariel glass
