Topic: EAPG pattern and maker ID help

This little vase is 5 1/8" high and made of fairly thick glass. I cannot find this pattern on the EAPGS.org web site. Can anyone help me identify the pattern and maker? Guessing this is U.S. made.

hi  -  have you tried any of the Early American Pressed/Pattern Glass forums on your side of the pond? - there is very little following of such material here in the U.K., and those members who do are probably based your side of the pond anyway.                You don't mention wear  -  does this piece have the sort of wear that might suggest late C19 ish time scale?

Sorry to be a tad negative - for reasons of a lack of this material to be found in the U.K. there are almost no posts on this Board for EAPG  -  however, wish you luck in your quest.

Thanks for your comment! I have posted to a couple of other lists, but not gotten a response, yet. There is actually very little wear apparent on this piece, but the characteristics of the vase and the condition I found it in are consistent with circa 1900 dating. It wears its age well. I have other pieces in similar condition that have been authenticated. It probably was not used much, if at all. It's small size does not make for a very practical vase.

The top row of the fine crosshatch areas are not very sharp, but the bottom row is pretty sharp. I wonder if this piece might have been worked after the were cut?

Pattern is shown in undated McKee glass co. catalogue , probably from around 1920. Entry reads " FINE AMERICAN GLASSWARE FOR LIGHT CUTTING " " 98 DESIGN ". Widely wholesaled to, jobbers, independent decorating and cutting shops.Probably made for many years pre and post 1920. Information comes from the book by Sandra McFee Stout. " THE COMPLETE BOOK OF McKEE GLASS ".

This type of glass falls in that netherworld between EAPG 1850-1910 and depression glass. The possibility that this vase was "worked up" a bit after pressing is possible as McKee was still hand pressing for the most part up until the late 1920s.

It looks like a similar pattern was made by several American makers ca 1916-1930s, Cambridge #4060, McKee #98, Duncan & Miller #86.... "
