Hi,this piece is 16cm in height with a broken Pontil and wear on the foot ring,it gives the impression it's been thrown on a wheel ,but it's obviously glass, any thoughts thanks(I hope I'm not adding to my Chinese collection!)

not really my area, but the colourway and shape are reminiscent of some of the Czech. glass from between the wars (the C20 ones), but there my knowledge ceases.         I did have a very slim booklet on this sort of inexpensive glass - which included what we call 'tango glass (orange stuff) from a lady author who's name I now forget  -  and that included acres of what is called spatter glass.
Keith will recall the lady's name, I'm sure - I think he has the booklet in question.

Of course this one might well be Chinese, it does look a tad rough in places  -  perhaps just copying  -  again.  :)           Take you word for it this one is crackle  -  can't see from these pix.

Yup I've seen a lot of that type of glass aswell, this one however is either studio made or back street Chinese. It has more texture than the standard ware of this type and heavier, though the glass is evenly distributed .You can see black in the crackles on the lower half.

It's just ribbed I think ,like a freely thrown pot on a wheel.

It's Czech factory glass. Blown into a mould. Early 20th C IMO

I was thinking along very much the same lines - it looks as if it might come from the same stable as what we used to call cellophane glass - the kind that used to get mistaken for Monart.

I can't work out if the "crackle" comes from plunging the hot glass into cold water, just after it was taken out of the mould, or if it arose from the bits of enamel gathered on the outside before going into the mould, standing proud of the surface and not being blown quite hard enough to fill the mould completely.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

I was going to ask about the making processes,I thought it may have had the water treatment first and then a reheat in my ignorance

I think it's had water, a reheat, a bit of a blow and then a reheat. The cracks are deepish and smooth
