Topic: Blue bowl ?

One of 2 bowls i am trying to I/D.
5 3/4 inch or 13.8cm dia x 1 3/4 inch or 4.4cm tall and 642gr. cased blue bowl with a deep concave pontil mark. It did remind me of Scottish bowl i had previously but not sure.

I think i owned one of these in the past and may have listed it here if you search under Stevens & Williams bowls
you may well find what was said I believe 95% sure it was produced by them not sure but may have been
once they had changed to the Royal Brierly name etc may need to search to clarify the details sorry to be vague Dan

Hi Malcolm,
You might want to also look at Nazeing. I've seen similar bowls in purple and petrol blue colourways and there are vases and bowls in a similar colour to yours on the net.

Nazeing produced a full 'Bristol Blue', and a slightly less rich blue, again in a solid colour (might have been for Boots the chemist) - but the blue here doesn't immediately suggest Nazeing  -  it lacks similarity with the shade of blue and the bubble structure for Nazeing.            Might be wise to hold off a full  confirmation until we can find an example for comparison.
Somewhere on the Board, in recent times, I was looking at a post from Nigel Benson in which he provided images of Nazeing pieces that don't occur in Geoff. Timberlake's book, but par for the course I can't now find it.

Any chance this might be Alum Bay  -  has some similarity with their blue and streakiness.?     Just a thought.

Nazeing produced far more shades of blue than you suggest including some cloudy types in a very similar colourway to the op's bowl. I wasn't suggesting any kind of confirmation, just an alternative direction for further research.

there are certainly more shades of variegated blues than appear in the book  -  and thanks for posting the link - Malcom's blue appears as a very dense blue - with what appears to be a pale grey/whiteish swirl.         I've no idea if all of the linked 'blues' are definitely Nazeing.
Attributions for Nazeing have in the past been less than easy to provenance  -  the booklet is not commonplace  -  and judging by the errors in correct id for a lot of glass in general, then I was simply being cautious.

the swirled colourway is not a lot unlike Alum Bay, but the pontil area is perhaps not quite right.
