I'm not really sure about the transfer printed things. I've been picking them up when it's pennies in a charity shop, but I don't like them.

My interest has been in textured, mould blown glasses (apart from the Fiesta ice and fire ones - shudder).

I really like Nevada crumply ones, have loads in different colours, use them daily and shove them in the dishwasher.

I love Annette Meech's "Apollo" glasses. I bought my first set from Boots, back in the mid '70's, for £3.45. I threw the box out, used them and broke all but one. I've only just managed to replace the 5 missing ones. They are really hard to find - especially the big ones.

It's been a matter of seeing them and liking them, not knowing what they were.

I found some other really nice textured glasses, with rounded bumps sticking into them, have had them for years. My little brother saw them last weekend and went; "Ahh! oivy toiky!". I was very pleased!

You may be right Sue. I understand this collection was cleared from AHW's house after he died and Broadfield had first dibs, or so I was led to believe.

It's funny but today on visiting my local antique centre I noticed (for the first time) four AHW printed tumblers in one of the cabinets with a £15 price tag on for the set - in the same cabinet used to house Chance hankie vases.   I actually went back to buy an enormous hankie in blue rippled glass that last week had a price tag of £10 (I didn't have my purse with me at the time) however, they now want £45 :-( so I didn't buy it.  But it is interesting to see these type of slumped and printed glass items now being housed in cabinets in antique markets.

... and getting the wrong impression? The 'Tinted' blue ones don't normally fetch such a good price, so maybe they've misinterpreted the prices of other vases and the reason for scarcity.

Another thought is the over-inflated prices in Miller's and DK's books?

You're probably both right and they probably also clocked me having a good look at it last week!  I originally thought a tenner was a fair price - it's one of the really massive ones and being in my favourite turquoisey blue colour I rather fancied hanging on to it.  Ho hum - not to be.  I also have to resist the temptation to correct things in there as well, I was looking at a lovely big thick Mdina goblet which was marked up as Italian and a Sklo Bullet vase as Dartington! tsk tsk

I'm just reading through the Ravenhead bit in Lesley Jackson's 20th Century Factory Glass, and she claims that AHW created over 1700 designs in the 27 years he was consultant designer to UGB. That's a heck of a lot of patterns to trace! :shock:

You have to remember he didn't just design glass - textiles and ceramics as well, amongst others.
