Unusual Signed USA Vase

Hi,

I have had this vase a couple of weeks and seem to be struggling to find a maker. The vase is 10cm x 10cm and has an iridescencent smokey pattern (hard to photo) but the glass is blue with a clear skin.

The base is marked PJ USA 72 which is scratched in. I have looked at US studio glass and it seems early if it is American and the 72 is a date and not a pattern number or similar so i'm thinking USA may stand for something other than United States and is a studio name / initials.
