Some do - but not all - so "no Deacons cane" in the set-up does not exclude him as maker.

Hi,
Sorry for restarting an old thread, but I have not been on the messageboard for quite a while.
In regard to the weight in question, it is entirely possible that it was made for Caithness by John Deacons or Harry McKay while at Jay Glass, as we made their Whitefriars weights initially and also did the cutting. This later reduced to just the cutting once Andrew Lawson moved to work for Caithness from Perthshire Paperweights. Obviously nothing can be certain, but I hope this clarifies (or confuses) the issue a bit.

Thanks for adding to this, I had forgotten about it. I’ll have to refresh my memory. (Still don’t know much about paperweights!)
