Ysart PW or not Ysart PW?
« on: September 25, 2020, 06:35:46 PM »
I found this PW recently. It measures 8 cm across and 5.5 cm high. Those multicoloured canes caught my eye. Is it an Ysart one or not?

Thanks for your help.

Anton

Well done Anton.

Good find. Good size. Good weight.

Made by Paul Ysart pre-WWII. Might be last half of 1940s though.

For a bit of extra detail, could you please post a pic of the base, in whatever way best shows the finishing. I am thinking that it will have a "crunchy pontil mark" but it could also be of other forms.

It's got a 'crunchy' pontil mark in a shallow depression. Picture to follow.

Here we are. The pontil mark looks 'crunchy' to me.

Thanks Anton.

Yes, the features of the base finish are consistent with Paul Ysart's work. I knew they would be (!!! ;D) but sometimes the base can show detail that has not been noted before.
