A unique uranium glass, not sure what it is.
« on: October 09, 2020, 10:28:01 PM »
Hello All, this is a strange and unique uranium glass (quite small). I cannot find out what it is called, what it is used for, and who made it.

Any ideas, please add here. It has smoothed polished base, and faceted sides. Is it a tiny vase? More like a shot glass to me.

The style of the cut reminded me of this (different type of glass but a set of shot glasses with decanter):

So I wonder if it is a shot glass missing it's set and decanter?  I don't know if Zelezny Brod did uranium glass or if Rudolf Hlousek may be the designer though.  A bit of detective work might be needed to see if there are any old catalogues with a set in?

I don't think it would be very easy to drink out of whichever way you held it. I think it's possibly a toothpick holder and would make a sort of fan effect when full.

This is a match to your glass isn't it?

I don't know how they know it's Palda though.

And the last one you posted does not say it is marked unfortunately.  So it may not be Moser?

I got it wrong (again) but I still wouldn't like to try and drink out of it ;D

;D  I had a box correction as have now found link - I had an ashtray in neodymium lilac years ago and when I saw the glass it reminded me of that cut in a similar way. In the end it was id'd as Desna.  However looking at the pics again I don't think the cut design is the same as this shot glass.  But Desna might be worth investigating?
