Topic: Uranium Stemmed Liqueur GlassThis

This is an 11cm. liqueur? glass with a uranium stem and foot. The construction may be a bit unusual as the stem was made in a three part mould and has been fixed to a hand blown? foot and a hand or mould blown bowl. At first I thought it was Bohemian but with the swag decoration now think possibly French. A trawl through glasmusterbuch and the web has come up with nothing similar.

Moulded stems are not that unusual. How is the rim finished and is the gilding on the surface or over a needle etch?

Christine, the gilding is on the surface and being round the rim it's difficult to tell how it's been finished but I think it's just been hand smoothed.

The rounded rim probably rules out Czech and the surface gilding possibly rules out the USA, but not necessarily

maybe the way it's photographed but it reminds me a bit of Val St Lambert Oroplastic decoration.

However I think lots of others also did this type of decoration.  Just that the ribbon looks a  bit French in design if you know what I mean?

From the replacements.com website another pattern gave a hint it was Tiffin-Franciscan and I eventually ended up finding this https://www.ebay.ca/itm/TIFFIN-ETCHED-MELROSE-GOLD-ENC-BRANDY/224020857478?hash=item3428af0286:g:-eEAAOSwjDJeyYFO.  Christine, you were right not to rule out USA. There's quite a lot of it online.

I can confirm the gilding pattern is Melrose Gold, I think the glass would be described as a Tall Sherbet/Champagne and the stem pattern number is 024-15024, ( from replacements.com.).
