Harrach Opaline Jug Vases.
« on: November 13, 2020, 03:49:00 PM »
I'm pretty sure this pair of 11" tall jug style vases are by Harrach, unfortunately one has damage to the foot. There are only the remains of quite a lot of gilding and an Art Nouveau motif on the handles. I think the quality of the decoration on these is underrated, it appears that some of plant stalks have been applied with a single brush hair. Both have the 2. decorator's mark.

They do look like something that might have been made by Harrach but I think until there is a confirmed id or reference source, then they should remain in Glass?

That's fair enough, perhaps the Mods will move them?

Nev, I also admire some of the enamelling on these pieces as the depictions of birds and flowers can be very beautiful and also skilfully and intricately painted.  Unfortunately it was often carried out in sombre colours and so it is not that appealing in many cases  :-\

I do prefer these more naturalistic pieces but I also like the brighter coloured ones as well.
