LeVerre Francais Vase Produced by Charles Schneider
« on: November 18, 2020, 10:51:40 PM »
I am trying to find the background for the vase pictured here. It is described as an "acid cut cameo vase in plum and turquoise 4.5 in tall and 5in wide. Floral decoration and signed in LeVerre Francais. It is also described as "Chardona" and the number 888 from the Le Louvre Des Antiquares."

We love this piece and want to insure it.  Before we do, we need to understand the history and the current appraised value.

Can anyone help us to understand the background and value of this vase?

Much appreciated

Mod: The same pattern is repeated on the reverse.

Hi and welcome.  :)
What a beautiful vase! French cameo is not my area, but I'm sure others will be able to help you more with the background information - that's what we do here.
However, we are not appraisers and we really do not tend to discuss values, which are subjective and can change rapidly with fashions in the secondary market. Something is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it, in that place, at that time.
Your best bet for obtaining a ball-park figure would be to study sold auctions of similar pieces.

You're in the right place then. We just need the right people to come along and see it. Not everybody comes in every day, have a little patience.  :)
I do know that Salvador Ysart trained with Schneider after leaving Spain, but before coming to Scotland. And that there is not a lot of Schneider around. I know what the signature mark looks like and that it is often found on the body of the glass. And that's it's wonderful.  ;D

Can we see a clear photograph of the signature please? Is it engraved into the vase 'le verre francais?

It's a really pretty vase and love the colours.

Many thanks.

Hi WSK2715,

In your initial post you have shown two identical images. Did you intend to show the front and back views? If so, please add the new second photo in a Reply of its own and without text. I will then add the new photo as a replacement for the duplicate. I will also reset all images for you so that they show upright.  :)

The pattern repeats. It was a duplicate picture.  Thanks
