Topic: Whitefriars dilemma? Any help at ID please?

Hello,
I have this bowl. It has all the characteristics of Whitefriars but somehow, summat aint right. Could someone please let me know if this is Whitefriars or could it be by a different maker? The cut pontil on the base is perfectly round but it is the bubbles...they are tiny and very precise. Looking at Whitefriars bowls on the net, the bubbles tend to be bigger and go from round to oval the higher up the bowl they go. This bowl is 8.5 inches tall and just under 3 inches wide and weighs a colossal 3.4 kilos. Thank you as always for any help.

Sorry folks. I've made a mistake with the sizes. It is 8.5 inches wide and 3 inches tall...not the other way round Now, can anyone please help? Thank you as always.

It's not a case of no-one being bothered, it's that the folks who have visited the board since your post are unable to help.  Being rude or impatient won't encourage anyone to come and help you either to be frank, please just be patient.

Thank you Nev. I looked through Google images but couldn't find anything with the same bubble set up as my bowl. Whitefriars bowls all tended to be clear and not as big and the bubble layout wasn't the same. I'm sorry if my post sounded rude...it wasn;t intended to be and indeed, I have never been rude on here but I was getting a bit deflated as over 100 people had looked but no one had come forward with any suggestions plus I had had the day from Hell. Thank you Anne. That's 2 suggestions of Scandinavian and I thought too that the piece was of Scand origin. The thing now is to narrow it down to a maker if possible. There is no signature though.

I saw it and it reminded me of a big Strombershyttan ashtray I have, but there are no bubbles in that, of no use to you whatsoever, so I stayed quiet.

Given the everted shape of the rim first I would assume Whitefriars, they made the 9099 bowls like this for decades, from the 30s until they shut in 1980 and they proliferate here. Is it lead crystal?

The trouble is just about every glassmaker and his dog has used controlled bubbles at one time or another, of the top of my head as diverse as Leerdam and Archimede Seguso.
