Topic: Turquoise water carafe- id help please

    Hi,
   Thought this might possibly be Victorian...........

    There are some very obvious ‘ stretch marks’ on its neck.

     Its rim which is flat has been fire-polished—it’s also a bit uneven.

    It looks as if its pontil mark has also been fire-polished.

    It has a lot of base wear.

     Colour—a turquoise blue
     Height— 20cm ( 8” )
     Weight— 553gm

     Its tumbler has a small bump on its rim ( tool mark? )

     Any thoughts appreciated—thanks for looking

Somehow it doesn't look Victorian, the colour, shape and pontil mark don't look right for then, although from the wear on the base it has some age. I'm guessing it's mid 20thC. and European, possibly Italian.

English but you haver the date right Nev, made by Nazeing from the 50s. Shown on page 181 20th Century Glass by Andy McConnell, many produced for the pub trade with brand advertising during the 60s.

  Many thanks - would never have identified it without your help— must get Andy McConnell’s book.

   I must have bought it well over a year ago, I knew I still had it but only remembered where I’d put it about a couple  of days ago—I’ll have to sort out my hoard 
 
  I have to admit Nazeing never crossed my mind—most of my pieces seem to be quite heavily mottled.............

Nazeing could turn their hand it seems to almost anything, from lens and windows to art glass and lighting, all those glass pub ashtrays with advertising - they made millions every year. They had to be nimble to survive, few other English glass makers have made it to the present day.
