Purple Slag Glass Vase
« on: June 17, 2021, 07:03:45 PM »
Would anyone please put a maker to this purple marbled vase with a distinctive pattern including overlapping arches below the rim. I can see several photos of identical vases online but, because they're on Piclick, the links are out of date. Height a little over 5 1/2", nothing to identify the maker.

Hello - there's a lot of similar pieces on eBay as Imperial :)

Thanks for the suggestion, which actually helped a possible ID. While searching for Imperial, I found a photo of the identical vase, attributed to John Derbyshire, based on its similarity to a design registered by that glass producer in 1876.

It's not John Derbyshire. I believe the rainbows at the top are supposed to be an Edward Moore pattern and it's probably by him, certainly it's northeast England

When I see that top pattern on any pressed glass I don't think of rainbows,I immediately think of woven willow fencing :)

Or the arches at the north of King's Cross station after excess alcohol. It was many years ago. In the meantime, I might have to abandon the vase attribution and leave as an unknown.
