Uranium Glass Salt.
« on: June 18, 2021, 12:00:53 PM »
I assume this little 11cm. dish is a salt. It is a very pale green colour but still glows well under UV. My first thought was Sowerby as it reminds me of their boat dishes. The flower pattern is very fine and I can't decide if it's moulded or cut.

The rim design and the shape are similar to pieces from Sowerby's 2127 pattern which is in the catalogues from 1895-1922, but I can't find a salt this shape, size and cut pattern. They did do a lot of cut glass at that time.http://www.victorianpressedglass.com/pdf/sowerby/sowerby_1922.pdf

Thanks Christine, I've had a look through the catalogues but it's not in them.

By chance I found this "Nadelschale/ Needle dish" in the Phönix Set One. The shape is slightly different and mine is 4 1/4" not 4 1/2"  but the decoration is exactly the same.
