Just tried to post a query with photos attached. On clicking Post it all disappeared! What am I doing wrong?

Chances are that one or more of your photos was too big, each photo must be 125K or less, you can add four photos per post.

I cropped my photos to reduce the file size, but they're still too large. I don't have Paint Shop Pro, mentioned in the link. 125K is exceptionally small.

you might try IrfanView which is free to download and is a simple re-sizing programme  -  700 pixels for the first dimension is an acceptable size for posting pix here, and assume you are re-sizing pix from you own picture library, rather than a third party source.

I used to have this problem...When I took a pic, the pic would be 1 or 2 mb and would reduce to 500, 600 or 700 kb after I'd cropped them, still gar too large. What I started doing was taking the pic of the item from quite a distance back, about 3 or 4 ft away and then cropped it and sure enough, pics would come out at 80, 90, 100kb a pic.

suppose if you're using a telephoto lens then a shot from that sort of distance would be practical  -  it certainly wouldn't be workable using an ordinary point and shoot compact.     Though I never use a mobile for photography, it's possible that others here do, and that may be the source of problems.     My efforts would be unusable if I didn't re-size with IrfanView , and the Picasa programme (another one that's free to download) for editing is worth its weight in gold.
