Scandy style slab sided vase for ID please
« on: September 07, 2021, 06:09:01 PM »
Picked this up in a charity shop today. Weighty. The colour has come out right though. It is olive green and clear. The base is flat and polished and does have a few shelf wear scratches on the base. 13.8 cm tall and 12 cm across the top. The top is flat and polished. There is no signature. Can anyone ID it for me please?

Suspect #1 - Strombergshyttan

Suspect #2 - Orrefors "dusk" glass.

No Orrefors "Dusk" piece I have seen so far had a cut rim.
Sorry for not being more helpful...

Michael

Thank you Ahremck and rocco for your input. I had seen a similar shape and design on Google that resembled Dusk but Rocco has raised the point of the cut rim. I always thought that Stromberg was signed Ahremck...did they release unsigned pieces? May be as second quality? It is an absolute pain as the last 4 things I have acquired are no where to be found on Google images. It is fast becoming the norm. I do feel that this piece is Scandinavian but who made it is a mystery.

Stromberg was not ALWAYS signed.  I suggest the Strombergshyttan Facebook group is an excellent resource with considerable expertise - I would be going there.
