Victorian enamel painted vases
« on: November 12, 2021, 03:38:28 PM »
Hi , these look second half of the 19th century and possibly bohemian to me ?One of them has markings on the base which looked like pencil, but it’s not and it’s permanent, anyone know much about Mark’s like this ?maybe a signature ?,thanks

I think you're about right with the date, late 19thC. and Bohemian, possibly Harrach. The markings however look later, the script doesn't look right for that age and location. Harrach used an alpha-numeric notation, but not always, and often there is just a decorator's number on other Bohemian pieces. I'd guess it's a retailer or importer's mark and the "pr"  is for pair to remind them it is a pair. I don't know why it doesn't rub off though. Of course I may be totally wrong  ;D.
