Sapphire blue wavy vase, Whitefriars or Powell Webb?
« on: January 20, 2022, 08:51:15 PM »
Learning how to post on here so I may take me a while.
Sapphire blue wavy vase, Whitefriars or Powell Webb?
I’ve had a good look but I can’t seem to find this one online.
6 wavy panels, Pontil base, no mark I can see but lots of wear.
Looks more hexagonal from above
10.5 cm tall, 10.4 cm across rim
Thank you

hi - I think your learning curve is still curving  -  appears I can't open your files for some reason.             I think the folk here prefer photos direct from your own photo album, rather than from an external host, which can make life difficult sometimes.    I assume these are coming from an external host?           Do you have access to either Jackson's book or what we refer to as the 'big book'?          If this is the sort of optic moulding I think it might be, then there is a difference between Webb and W/Fs  -  insofar as .............   Webb from memory is a wavy appearance, and W/Fs has more the appearance of swags.

No Paul, they are failed uploads, this is usually an issue when the poster is using an Apple device to upload the images. It seems to cause a problem with the board's image hosting for some odd reason. I've removed the 0kb files as they will not display for anyone.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

If you look straight down into Whitefriars wavy vases there is a distinct hexagonal shape in most caeses - although I have just seen one that was triangular.  Thomas Webb come out as squares with rounded corners.  Seems to be the way they made their moulds.

Not sure how this will work out. Bens query sounds like my query (sapphire glass) from January 20th 2013.
Iv'e lost the ability to do the link . Ben should be able to get to it.

this may be the post essi is referring to   ......     https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,51074.msg289424.html#msg289424

some of the links appear not to work now - but seems the conclusion was doubtful as to W/Fs.

I’m determined to work out how to use the message board as I could really do with some help.
I’ll try and do the photos now. I’m working from an iPad.
