Looks like Monart but is it ???
« on: March 14, 2022, 08:46:48 PM »
My wife bought this home today after going shopping. A very large round pink vase with aventurine and it's big. It looks very like Monart but cannot find the shape. The nearest being a lamp base. We have checked some Vasart and Strathearn.

Height 10.5"
Diameter 10"
Weight 3230gm

Thanks Roy

Still cannot match it the vase to a Monart shape and I do not think it's a lamp base. Am I missing something obvious.

The nearest vase shape and colour that I can find is a Schneider vase is that just a coincidence that Salvador Ysart worked for Schneider prior to moving to Scotland.

I've been quiet because I'm clueless. I don't like the "laboratory bottle" sort of neck for Monart on this.
The glass itself looks right, it's got the applied button, but there is something not quite right, to me, about the neck and its rim.

Thanks Sue for your reply as it had been very quiet.
Salvador was making experimental Pieces as told in the link below.

I'm not sure about the accuracy of the report in the first link - I've just skimmed it.
Monax was lab ware. And lighting - big white lampshades.
There's a pic of Isobel with the queen mother stuff, you can see the decanters have sloped elegant necks. But not round bodies.  ::)

I might not like the lab bottle neck, but they did make lab ware under Monax.

There are uncatalogued bits, especially when it comes to lighting.
I think you need a Gary or so to pop in.  ;D

Thanks Sue.

I think until proven otherwise I am going to think they must have made experimental uncatalogued pieces during their long career and this could be such  a piece.

That may wake one or 2 people up.
Thanks Roy

That looks exactly like Monart.  ;D
I'd agree with your conclusion too. I just want a definite yes from a Gary.

Thanks Sue for your reply , looks like we are still on our own.

My wife and daughter found it in a charity shop on a shopping trip. I get pictures sent to me, with the bright sun I could not see a lot and said no but she insisted and said she thought it was Monart.
They had to take turns carrying it back to the car.

Thanks Roy

My family have a very unusual and completely massive round-ish apple green lampbase which isn't catalogued. I'd say it's a good bit bigger even than this. Such things do exist.
I can't remember what the top was like, and it's in storage.

I really don't see what else this could be. I just want a Gary to put all doubts away, nice and tidy.  :)
