Opaline Vase
« on: March 18, 2022, 03:23:11 PM »
Another piece I hoped was uranium but isn't. I checked all the usual catalogues and there are several similar but none with this exact pattern. I've also checked the carnival glass websites which have similar ones, again no luck. Height 20cm.

I have seen this kind of translucent shade of green described as jadeite. I think.
Mostly in older pieces, and I'm fairly sure what I've seen is hot worked rather than pressed.
There are some bits of jadeite illustrated in Lustrousstone's Gallery.

From what I've seen pieces called  jadeite seem to vary from translucent to totally opaque, like that made by American companies like Fire King for domestic use.

I just thought if it might be a word which would assist a search. :)

Thanks Sue, I did search for jadeite too but came up with nothing. The closest I've found is by Josef Inwald.
