60s / 70s pressed glass vase
« on: March 19, 2022, 04:39:46 PM »
When I bought this vase today I was convinced it was Polish and easy to ID.
Now after having looked through 1000s of pictures of Polish (and other) pressed glass I am not so sure anymore 8)
Any help highly appreciated as always!  :)
Stands 16cm tall, base ring ground and polished (I think).

Lovely shape.

Is it a similar colour to this Rosice?  Not that colour would identify maker obviously.  Just curious to know.

Thanks m! :)
Yes definitely a similar colour, I now would not exclude Sklo Union. I think I will have to search the Czech glass resources...
I know I have seen this design before, and my first thought was Polish - but maybe I mixed up something.

Found it!
m is right as usual ;D
Seems to be a Jiri Brabec design for Rosice, at least it is here on this Sklo Union collector's website:
https://www.sklo-union.eu/jiri-brabec

I couldn't find another reference for it, it's not found in the catalogues on Jindich's site, nor on the czech glass guide site:
http://www.czechglassguide.cz/Brabec-Jiri-c2_278_3.htm
No other examples on the web either, apart from a pinterest pic.

So probably a seldom seen pattern. Though I have been collecting Sklo Union glass for quite a while this design was not on my radar... 8)

There is also nothing in Hi Sklo Lo Sklo, Mark Hill

or in Marcus' wonderful book
Sklo Union Art Before Industry: 20th Century Czech Pressed Glass, Marcus Newhall (with Photography by Simon Bruntnell)

I have the disc for Marcus' book but nowhere to play it to check the catalogues.

Gorgeous vase and great colour!
