  It doesn't look cheap. It looks really rather nicely made and elegant.
It's not a baby pastel pink, it's a fairly decent fuchsia.
What does the surface feel like - is it all smooth or a little uneven? Can you feel bands of colour?
I don't know enough to be able to comment on whether it might be Scottish or not. But I like the idea and would not dismiss it.

Surface is smooth and uneven, yes I can feel the colour bands, it's also quite heavy, it's where to put it that's the problem, bit of an odd shape

A great colour piece to have as 'the one'.  I love the shape of these. 
Can you prop it up on some kind of perspex stand somehow?
