Unusual Art Deco float bowl...Jobling?
« on: May 01, 2022, 06:23:41 PM »
Hello all
I purchased this bowl this week and from a distance I assumed it was the flower panel bowl by Jobling but on closer inspection it was a totally different pattern.
Has the colour and cupped style of Jobling but no reg number but it does have impressed British make into the centre.
Does anyone know please if this is Jobling?
Nigel

Hi Nigel,

As yet unknown, though there’s been speculation it could be Jobling or even Bagley. There’s another related pattern in this style with the same mark. These bowls are also seen in a deep (not cupped) form, usually without frosting.

My vote is not Jobling as the uranium green bowl I had from this series didn’t match my Jobling greens, and as Bernard Cavalot helped identify, the font of the ‘British Make’ mark is different from that seen on the marked 1054 and related bowls.

Hi Stepehn
Thank you for that info.Colour doesn't remind me of Bagley as Bagleys frosted blue seems a bit more "powdery" in colour and seems to attract scuffing.
At first I wondered if this was the bowl that matched the rare Jobling standing lady but this bowl is the same size as the float bowl for the ballerina figure.
I have a ballerina figure in blue frosted that matches this colour bowl (she is the other version ballerina with a higher skirt?)
Will have to do some more digging around.
I have seen British make impressed into other bowls over the years too.
Thank you for taking the time to put input into my thread.
